Missions

The Mission Team at First United Methodist Church is committed to “Knowing Christ – Sharing Christ – Making Disciples,” so, it makes sense that we will be present in our local community working to serve others in the name of Christ. We sponsor, support, and participate in mission work caring for Christ’s people throughout the world. Members of the Mission Team are blessed to share their many gifts through supporting and serving with Metropolitan Ministries of Tampa and Pasco County, Christian Social Services in Land O Lakes, Mary Giella Elementary School, The Oasis church at Lowell Correctional Institute, and with other varied local partnerships.

The Mission Team has undertaken the responsibility of identifying mission activities within the community and around the world for our community of faith to help serve. Our Team Members serve as liaisons between our church and community agencies. Our Missions Team also provides support to Pastor Alioski of Palmas UMC, in the Cuban Sierra Maestra district with financial supplements, along with email and letter correspondences.

Our Mission Team meets monthly to review past projects, identify new needs, and develop a calendar of missional activities.

Our team is a volunteer group of people dedicated to serve and we work with a designated fund that is not supported by the church's general budget, but gifts.
