Our church and the Missions Committee have been in partnership with Mary Giella Elementary School since 2009. Our goal is to work with the school to determine how we can help meet some of the needs of the students, families, teachers and staff. Our congregation has done an awesome job in supplying backpacks, hygiene packets, clothing, food drives of peanut butter, jelly, and cereal for students during winter and summer breaks. Our volunteers also help the teachers with projects during the school year. We were able to provide a white board for each of the 700 students at the school this year. This partnership is such a worthwhile outreach and a blessing for all involved.
"Cans for Christ" is an ongoing project to feed the hungry in our community. For Christ said: "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat" Matthew 25:35. Before you go out the door for Church, have each person walk to the pantry and grab just one can of food (or non perishable item). Bring your "Cans for Christ" to church every Sunday and help us feed Christ. Be blessed by your encounter with God at Church. Let God be blessed by your worship. Let God be blessed by your gift of food. Help us feed Christ in this world.
This mission of this group is to provide handyman assistance to those in need in the area.

At the beginning of the 2010/2011 school year, the Students in Transition (SIT) program identified 2,157 homeless children in the Pasco County school district. Housed at Pine View Elementary, the SIT staff, under the direction of Erika Remsberg, communicates with our church the needs for these children. We offer support by supplying new undergarments at the beginning of the school year, and new jackets, hoodies and sweaters in the winter. Other areas of support from church members and a Sunday school class include providing transportation costs for a family, providing graduation fees for a senior student, and purchasing a ticket for a major school event. Several of our church members provide under garments and socks to the students in the SIT program regularly throughout the school year.
UMCOR is the humanitarian relief and development agency of the United Methodist Church, a worldwide denomination. Compelled by Christ, UMCOR responds to natural or human made disasters—those interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community's ability to recover on its own.
